Saint Catherine's Monastery and the city of Dahab!
Everyone knows about the pyramids in Egypt, but few are aware that there is such an amazing landmark in the Sinai Desert. A place of power where miracles happen!
⛪ The monastery was built in the 6th century AD❗ It is surrounded by Mount Moses, Mount Safsaf and Mount Catherine.
⛪ It has been excellently preserved to this day, without restorations.
⛪ It is among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
⛪ The Burning Bush has been preserved – according to Biblical legend, this is the place where God first appeared to Moses.
⛪ Moses' Well is carefully maintained and continues to supply water to Saint Catherine's Monastery to this day.
⛪ Saint Catherine's Monastery, or rather its library, holds three thousand manuscripts – their quantity and value can only be compared to the library in the Vatican!
⛪ The cathedral has a unique collection of icons, which includes 150 icons of immense historical, artistic, and spiritual value. Here you can find some of the oldest icons, painted with wax paints during the reign of the Byzantine ruler Justinian.
💍 According to legend, after the martyrdom of Catherine, angels took her body away. Her remains were found two hundred years later in a grave on Mount Sinai and recognized by a silver ring.
⚠️ There are numerous accounts of miraculous healings of pilgrims from fatal diseases. The monks claim that sometimes the relics exude myrrh. Each pilgrim receives a ring with a heart design and the words "Saint Catherine" after veneration.
